The first thing you are going to need
is a good pair of skates. These skates should be light
weight but tough. They also have to be comfortable. They
also have to be built for speed. It's all part of the
game. If you have some crappy slow skates then you are
be left behind. Don't make that mistake.
Skates are just the beginning. You can fully customize
everything on the skate. You can swap out the boots
for a more comfortable fit. You can swap out the wheels
for some with more traction to keep you on the track.
You can get new bearings that are built for speed. You
can get new axles and skate plates. You can change every
aspect of your skate for better performance and comfort.
Being a rough full contact sport means that you are
going to need some serious protection. The fist thing
you need is a good quality helmet. It should provide
a combination of comfort and protection. It should also
be vented to allow for proper air flow and keep your
head cool. Next up would be the pads. You are going
to need some knee pads. You are going to fall and if
you want to be able to get up and skate again, then
knee pads are essential. After the knee pads would come
elbow pads. The same applies here. The next thing would
be wrist pads or wrist guards. These can help prevent
a broken wrist or two.
Once you get your skates and protection. You are going
to need some proper apparel. Roller Derby often uses
a burlesque type fashion. You have to look the part
too. It is all part of the game. |
